This summer, The Opportunity Network helped connect L+M with two interns for our Summer 2026 Internship Program: Stacie Okunseri and Frank Tan.
Stacie was selected to join the summer internship program to support two L+M teams: Community Investment and Government and Community Relations. In her time with L+M, Stacie learned about the positive impacts of affordable housing in our communities and gained knowledge of the full real estate development process.
Frank joined the L+M’s Builders team this summer to learn about MEP engineering and construction within real estate. Frank is a first-generation college student and was introduced to The Opportunity Network through an academic advisor during high school.
In addition to their work with their respective teams, Stacie and Frank also volunteered at L+M’s The Campaign Against Hunger event, an annual volunteer opportunity for summer interns where they learn more about L+M’s commitment to creating a positive impact where we work. They also visited L+M properties including Alafia in Brooklyn and Arverne East in Far Rockaway. They wrapped up their internship program with a capstone project, which included a presentation to L+M team members to showcase what they learned this summer.
The Opportunity Network helps students from under-resourced communities overcome barriers to college and career opportunities. Since 2003, they have brought together students, schools, colleges, nonprofits, and employers to unlock opportunities for young people. They provide training and exposure to career pathways, internships and mentorships, and long-term guidance that helps students align their evolving interests, strengths, and values with their educational and career goals.
