L+M Development Partners has made changes to its executive leadership team by naming Joe Curatolo as chief financial officer and Nikki Wernick as president of property management.
As part of the NYCHA STEAM Innovators project, students from Stanley Avenue Preservation opened a community center in the Penn Wortman Houses that they designed over the summer led by the Salvadori Center.
Developed by LMXD and Ray and designed by Handel Architects and Frida Escobedo, the property will include 222 residences and will be the permanent home of the National Black Theatre. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 58 units for residents at 40 to 130 percent of the area median income.
Instead of building yet another suburban-style townhouse complex, LMXD and Msquared intend to triple the number of units at Westpark to a total of 1,000. To accomplish that goal, they will reuse the existing towers, making them the centerpiece of a new community that features a variety of housing.
Students and staff from P.S. 106 Lighthouse Elementary School gathered with elected officials, local leaders, and L+M Development Partners at the Arverne East Welcome Center to officially unveil the building’s new name during a special ceremony.

In addition to outdoor walking and calisthenics, the program teaches the seniors about healthy cooking with nutrition classes in the Arverne East Multipurpose Building, which was completed earlier this year and has become a community hub for a wide variety of local events.
The second phase of development brings 376 affordable units to Brooklyn, along with 9,000 square feet of community space and 11,000 square feet of retail.
The 146-unit building in Far Rockaway, Queens, offers a mix of studios to three-bedroom apartments, including 38 units specifically set aside for low-income senior citizens over the age of 62.
Located at 2-33 50th Avenue, Jasper is a 12-story building that offers residents a holistic living experience with state-of-the-art amenities and convenient access to a grocery store, restaurants, and other retail options on the ground level.
